The Demonlord

Making a deal with a demon is something extremely foolish and dangerous, since they are beings of pure instinct and emotion, doing whatever they feel like for that particular moment. This means even if they give you their word, that word is null if they decide that you look tasty, problematic, or in the way of their ambition. Being able to maneuver such a creature demands both a superb intellect and a way with words beyond the norm, but even then, the odds are not in your favor.

Homebrew: The "Demonlord" warlock subclass was made by SwEcky and published on the unearthedarcana subreddit.

Bestowed Spells

You gain bestowed spells at the warlock levels listed below.

Consume Power

Starting at 1st level, you are empowered by slain enemies. When you reduce a hostile creature to 0 hit points, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Intelligence modifier + your warlock level (minimum of 1).

Reach of the Abyss

Starting at 6th level, whenever you expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher, you can let yourself be empowered by the power of the abyss. When you do so, enemies within 5 feet of you take force damage equal to your Intelligence modifier as demonic energy cuts anything close to your body.

Fiendish Resilience

Starting at 10th level, you can choose one damage type when you finish a short or long rest. You gain resistance to that damage type until you choose a different one with this feature. Damage from magical weapons or silver weapons ignores this resistance.

Embrace of the Void

At 14th level, you can use an action to surround yourself with the void of the abyss. The effect of a 9th level darkness and silence spell are centered on you for 1 minute. You are unaffected by both these effects.

A creature hostile to you who starts its turn within the darkness takes 3d4 cold damage. This effect lasts for 1 minute or until you end it (no action required).

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Patron Invocations

Dark Retribution

Prerequisite: The Demonlord patron, Pact of the Chain feature

If a creatures hits your chained servant with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to deal cold damage to the creature equal to your Intelligence modifier.

Demonic Form

Prerequisite: 7th level, The Demonlord patron

You can use an action to enter the form of a battle-ready demon with frightening features such as hardened skin, horns, black pupil, claws protecting you from harm. While you are not wearing armor or using a shield, you can choose to have your AC equal 10 + your Strength modifier + your Intelligence modifier.

Signet of Frailty

Prerequisite: The Demonlord patron, Pact of the Tome feature

Whenever you cast a spell of 1st level or higher that deals damage, you can use your bonus action to cause one target of the spell to become vulnerable to the first instance of damage from a single type, rolled randomly on the table below. If the creature has resistance to the damage type, this resistance is ignored and vulnerability is applied instead. If the spell you cast deals that damage type, roll until you get a different result.

Once you use this bonus action, you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Tenebrous Blade

Prerequisite: The Demonlord patron, Pact of the Blade feature

Using your Pact of the Blade feature, you can create a demonic weapon that takes on a nightmarish appearance (fleshblade, demonblade, shadowblade, etc.). When you hit a creature with this weapon, you can cast a single 1st level spell you know with a casting time of one bonus action without expending a spell slot. Once you cast a spell in this way, you can't do so again until you finish a short or long rest.
